Explore different coaching options. Develop a service that works for you.
Coaching Writers is a short, self-paced workshop designed to help you develop a coaching service.
In the first part of the workshop, you'll explore the many ways you can coach writers. In the second half, you'll consider how to shape a coaching service that works best for you.
You'll come out of this workshop with ideas for coaching services that can help the writers you work with, and that feel right for you and the way you want to run your business.
(And there will be dinosaurs, of course 🦖🦕)
This workshop is designed for established editors. It's self-paced and available for two years after purchase. It should take you an hour or two to complete.
A needs-based scholarship of $15-off is available for editors from marginalized groups who cannot afford the full price. A limited number of scholarships are released in October and April.
I’m a book editor, translator, educator, and literary omnivore. I've been in publishing for over twenty years and love this industry to bits.
I work with authors and publishers, editing and translating SFF, horror, contemporary realism, memoir, interactive fiction, and graphic novels.
I support editors and writers one on one, and teach in a bunch of places, including the Editorial Freelancers Association and Emerson College's MFA in Popular Fiction program.
It has been suggested that I read too much for my own good. This might be true.
"Tanya does such a good job of breaking things up into bite-size steps, providing great support so you can finish this workshop having actually done the thing — in this case, developing a coaching service."
“Coaching Writers is both useful and very encouraging!”
"The Coaching Writers workshop is AMAZING. I now feel like I'm prepared for revision coaching, and that coaching writers won't be anywhere near as stressful as I thought it would be."
"The Coaching Writers workshop helped me clarify which parts of the writers' process I want to be involved in as a coach."
"Tanya’s coaching class is so organized and thoughtful. It gave me the opportunity to evaluate my strengths and skills to come up with realistic and meaningful coaching packages."
This workshop is designed for editors who have an established business, and who have worked with writers for long enough to understand their experiences. The workshop can also work for writers who have a good understanding of the publishing industry.
People from marginalized groups and communities are people who have experienced systematic discrimination because of certain characteristics — such as their skin color, heritage, sexuality, gender, disability, or neurodivergence. This scholarship is intended to support people who have been historically excluded from the publishing industry.
